Something new at COS

We want to start a children’s choir.

Every child already owns the instrument. What we need now is enough singers to build a choir around. Add your child to the list and we will write to you the moment there are enough of them to begin.

What we have in mind

A real choir, with real repertoire.

COS has taught children to play together since 1962. A choir would work the same way. Children would learn to read music, to hold their line while other lines move around them, and to sing music worth the effort of learning.

The instrument every child already has.

Nothing to Buy

No rental, no case to carry from the car, no instrument to outgrow. A child can start the week they decide to.

It Trains the Ear

Singing is how most musicians learn to hear pitch. There is nothing between the child and the note, which is why so many instrumental teachers ask students to sing a phrase before playing it.

Room for Every Age

Voices change and parts get reassigned as children grow. A choir has a place for a young beginner and a teenager in the same room.

How this works

Nothing starts until there are enough singers.

This really is a first step. COS is finding out how many children want to sing before setting a day, a time or a fee. Once enough families have added their child, everyone on the list gets an email with the details and decides then whether it fits their week.
